Some of the best reasonably priced seafood in the city. Quick service especially for how busy they can get.

Where I'm from In New Orleans, "neighborhood restaurant" is a genre widely understood to meet expectations of affordability and informality, with a strain of vernacular cuisine headlined by red beans, gumbo and Gulf seafood po' boys. Here in Worcester, MA I've found the real deal, the closest thing to my hometown's many neighborhood bar/restaurant. Here some speciality include Baked Stuffed Haddock w/seafood stuffing & Hollandaise Sauce for $17.95, a Fisherman's Platter (baked or fried) for $23.95 or Grilled Salmon (Plain, Honey Mustard or Dill Sauce) w/pilaf & veg for $18.95. Been around for over 50 years, this unpretentious and casual restaurant serves up some mighty good fixin's and a strong drink. SATURDAYS THEY HAVE A GREAT LOOKING PRIME RIB TOO. They have a daily specials menu and I happened to be here on a Thursday when it was the only night they offer fried Chicken, one of my southern favorites. It was lightly breaded, pipin' hot and not at all greasy. French fries and cole slaw came with it although you could get mashed potatoes and vegs too. Coleslaw was spiced just right with a hint of sugar without being drowned in mayonnaise. Waitress was nice and efficient, the folks at the next table told me to be sure to come back for their Haddock. Enjoy!

Return visit a year later: still wonderful. Three of us (we learned from last year), shared a Fisherman's Platter and Scallop and Clam plate, both fried. Good cole slaw, real fries, tartar and cocktail sauces. 2 cups of creamy chowder with tender clams, a Greek salad, NA beer and a glass of red wine. $71 before tip. Pretty freakin' great.

Wow! I stopped in today for a quick lunch today. I ordered the meatloaf dinner, with garlic green beans and mashed potato. As you can tell from the photo, I received two generous slices of absolutely delicious meatloaf. The quality of the food was outstanding. The server asked me how I liked my meal, and I told her that I would order this as my "last meal". I forget the price, but with a large diet soda and tax, it came to around $14. Not bad for one of the best meals I have ever had! Take my advice, check out Herbie's, you won't be disappointed. Don't be fooled by the exterior, this restaurant has great food at an affordable price.

It's part dive bar part good food restaurant. It's got the dive bar bathrooms! Prices are very good. I've ordered the haddock fried or baked, and the Buffalo chicken tenders. GF likes their crispy chicken roll up but I'm not impressed. Their coleslaw is usually very good but last time it was old. Keno is featured

GREAT People behind the bar. Dana and Galo are excellent. Food is on POINT! Would definitely recommend

Thank you to everyone who's ever suggested Herbie's. I read years worth of reviews/comments before trying out new places and this time the positive comments couldn't have been more accurate. I had the Friday special fish and chips (baked with sweet potatoes and coleslaw). The service (a major one for me), the flavor, the simplicity, the portion, the price, the freshness of the ingredients. Just thinking about it makes me smile all over again. I never thought I'd appreciate no background music while eating out but afternoon buzz from the conversations around the room was the perfect ambience to this experience. And it would be perfect for a meetup with friends. It was so simplistic yet so good. Parking was full by 1PM on a Friday so that might be the only downside but it's well worth it.

We came here after a halfway point for vacation and you Yelpers helped us make our decision. You all did well. Herbie's is like a run down Cheers. It's a bar that seated all of the grey-haired seniors at lunchtime drinking to their heart's content and having their "epic" conversations of the topics of the day. We were told to sit anywhere open, and the air conditioning was on full blast. One patron had to move tables because the wall unit ended up dripping on them. We picked a four-top and very friendly Ava helped us out with quick service. The opening clam chowder was outstanding. Very thick, creamy, no overdone clams, and lots of potatoes. Came with a small pack of crackers. My clam roll was supposed to be full bellies fried clams with fries. Not all were, they weren't too plump, but they were crispy and tasted wonderful. Fries were just as good. The dish came with tartar sauce, and I asked for cocktail which they said they had, but it never came. My wife had a chicken strip salad and my kid had a chicken strip wrap. But, the kitchen instead sent out two wraps and since my wife thought it looked good just kept her wrap instead of getting a salad which was offered by Ava. They both really enjoyed the wraps. My other kid had a 3D burger which comes with fries and onion rings. He asked for medium but it came out well. But again, he really liked the taste and it was presented like a club sandwich. Overall, we're more than happy to support a local business. The bathrooms were something to be desired. It's run down, but the locals seem to love it and we'd come back. Polar drinks, no Coke or Pepsi. And the Polar facility seems to be located across the street. 3 stars from my whole family and 4 from me, so since I'm writing this I'm giving the 4. Really, a 3 1/2. $90 including tip for everything.
